Category: Editorial

This work study focuses on the work and life of graphic designer Herbert Bayer. Bayer’s impact on graphic design, the Bauhaus movement and Dassue movement is something needs to be highlighted and studied.
While there was many influential graphic designers in the early 1920s. Austrian- American graphic designer; Herbert Bayer set out to change the way typography was being viewed and presented to the masses. Not only did Bayer present these ideas with graphics and typography, but also with the integration of photography. In a time when typography was filled with serif typefaces, Bayer set out to change that theme, and create a typeface that was solely based of lowercase characters. The idea of what typography was and how it was being used in this time is something that would forever impact graphic design.
